Procedure for Commissioning a Portrait of Your Pet:

1. First, carefully examine Rachelle's past work.

The artist prefers to meet her clients unless impossible due to distance, in which case she suggests you review her web site, which contains many examples of her past and current work.

 

Common choices are;
Classic 18th century natural animal portrait, head/body pose.
· Anthropomorphic portrait wearing historic costume
· Anthropomorphic portrait wearing contemporary fashion.
2. Determine the size painting of you painting. Size can accommodate antique frames.
3. Choose a background, either a solid color, landscape, or a domestic interior. It is also possible to further personalize your painting by including specific details of your house, or other possessions.

4. Next contact Rachelle directly by telephone, or e-mail to begin discussing your painting. Remember to include return contact information

5. Photograph your pet. Although Rachelle prefers to photograph animals herself, she will send you photograph instructions when personal meetings are not possible. Her web site also offers helpful hints on

6. Send photographs directly to Rachelle, and be sure to include a return address and telephone number.
7. After receiving and reviewing the photos, Rachelle will discuss the painting process, give suggestions, and estimate the cost of the painting. Cost is determined by the painting size, type of animal, complexity of background and costume, and number of subjects.
8. Painting will commence upon receipt of a 40% deposit of the painting's final cost, payable by cash or check. After receiving a deposit, the client will be faxed a contract/receipt stating all the details and terms of the painting. References are available from past clients if requested.
9. Completion time depends on Rachelle's current job schedule, however, typically one can calculate a minimum of 15-20 days of actual painting, then, an additional ten days of drying time. Please note that since these paintings are oil, they often require additional final drying time.
10. Please inform Rachelle well in advance if the painting is a gift required for a specific date, i.e.: a wedding, birthday, Christmas, graduation, anniversary, etc.
11. Before mailing the finished painting, the artist will send a photograph of the work for your approval. Although an instance has not happened to date, if someone is honestly not satisfied with his or her painting, Rachelle will either propose a second rendition or refund your deposit minus a fee for materials.

12. The finished painting will either be delivered in person by Rachelle, or sent C.O.D. payable by cash or check for the remaining 60% plus the shipping costs.
